Learn how to make Thai Green curry with our students …
One of the top Thai curries, both nationally and internationally, is Green Curry. This dish is highly praised for its delicious taste, rich flavour and excellent nutritional value. To provide a valuable and hands-on experience, Year 11 Thai Language and Culture students had the opportunity to make green curry themselves, from ingredient preparation to seasoning. This experience also equipped students with the skills to make green curry at home, whether in Thailand or abroad, when they miss the flavours of Thai cuisine.
Before cooking, students learned about the characteristics of fresh green curry paste and the ready-made paste packets, which are available in Thailand and internationally. After a demonstration, the teacher divided the students into three groups, allowing everyone to actively participate in making the curry. Once the green curry finished being prepared, it was served with traditional Thai rice noodles, with regular noodles as an alternative.
Each group’s dish was then sampled by the teacher, and it turned out that all groups had made a delicious green curry that delighted both group members and the teacher.
This Thai cultural activity was a joyful experience for all the students, who enjoyed learning, cooking and savouring the delicious dish they had made themselves truly.
