Refining Art in Year 10
From Technique to Personal Style
Year 10 Fine Art is an adventure into the world of creativity, where students explore, experiment and refine their artistic voice. Through a series of dynamic projects, they dive into observational sketching, painting, printmaking and three-dimensional techniques, discovering new ways to bring their ideas to life.
Each project is assessed using the GCSE Edexcel Assessment Criteria, which focus on key artistic skills such as understanding artists’ work, refining techniques, recording observations and presenting outcomes. This structured approach ensures students build strong technical foundations while developing their own creative style.
As they hone their skills, students mix and match different subjects and styles, learning how art can tell stories and spark emotions. With dedicated guidance from teachers, they spend valuable time developing and refining their work, gaining confidence in their ability to use various media effectively.
This is the stage where creativity truly comes to life—students begin crafting artworks that reflect their unique style, inspired by their favorite artists yet distinctly their own. It’s a journey of self-expression, discovery and artistic growth, setting the stage for their future as confident, expressive artists!
