Year 5 Inspires Action

Raising awareness for Rainforests

Towards the end of Term 1, Year 5 students were called to action to answer their driving question for the term: “How can we raise awareness about the importance of rainforests?” Their audience was the Year 4 students, and they rose to the challenge with creativity and enthusiasm.

The Year 5s selected a variety of rainforest-related topics and used different, engaging methods to share their messages about the importance of rainforests. From informative leaflets and eye-catching posters to interactive board games and well-rehearsed drama performances, the students shared their expertise and passion for the subject. Each presentation aimed to highlight the critical role rainforests play in the global ecosystem and the urgent need for their conservation.

Having recently visited a rainforest during their residential trip, the Year 5 students developed an appreciation for its value and a better understanding of the devastating consequences of its destruction. As global citizens, they have also explored the many reasons behind deforestation, gaining a broader perspective on the challenges facing rainforests today.

The Year 4 students were inspired by the presentations and left with a better understanding of why rainforests matter. With any luck, they will carry this knowledge forward as they prepare to learn about similar topics themselves next year.

We are proud of our Year 5 students for their hard work and dedication to raising awareness about such an important issue.
