Rainforest Wonders in Year 5

Rainforest Wonders in Year 5

Learning about the ecosystems…

Students in Year 5 transformed their classroom doorways with tropical greenery, in preparation for this term’s learning theme: rainforests. This learning journey will walk students through the wonders and significance of rainforests – from understanding their locations and ecological importance, such as their role in producing oxygen and providing medicines, to exploring the threats they face. The theme will culminate in a powerful ‘call to action,’ where students will raise awareness about the crucial need to protect these vital ecosystems.

The classroom transformations were a collaborative effort, with students leading the way in planning, discussing and creating their designs. When challenges arose, they showed resilience by re-evaluating their plans and finding new solutions. This student-driven experience resulted in beautifully crafted doorways that will inspire learning throughout the term.

This captivating theme sets the stage for our upcoming visit to a real rainforest in November—we can’t wait!
