Ensemble Options Process Begins for Year 6!
Year 6 Visits the Secondary Music Department
In Mid May, our Year 6 students stepped into the vibrant world of the Secondary Music Department.
They were warmly welcomed with live performances from a variety of ensembles, including the Vocal, Thai, Guitar, Concert Band and String groups. The students listened, asked questions and imagined themselves as part of the ensembles next year. They showed great curiosity and enthusiasm.
In preparation for this transition, Year 6 students have already watched the options video in their lessons and read through the information booklet to learn more about what’s ahead.
🎼 Key Dates to Note:
- Friday 16th May – The Ensemble Choice Form was sent to parents.
- Tuesday 20th May – Deadline to submit the form.
- August (First Week of School) – Ensemble placements will be announced via email.
📌 A Quick Reminder:
Students are selecting an ensemble, not a specific instrument. This approach helps us place them in a group that best matches their interests and experience.
When school resumes in August, your child’s timetable will initially show a general ‘MUSIC’ class with Ms MacRitchie. Once ensemble placements are finalised, their schedule will be updated to reflect their specific music teacher and ensemble.
We’re so excited to welcome our future Year 7 musicians into the Secondary Music Department and can’t wait to see them flourish! This is just the beginning of a wonderful musical journey—and we can’t wait to see where it takes them!
