TigerSharks Dive into the Season!

By Alex Berwick, Cross Campus Head of Swim

At the start of September, the TigerSharks hosted our Big 50 Challenge. This was the first competition of the season for our swimmers. Competing in 50m events, demonstrating all four strokes, it was fast and furious! We had one hundred and twenty swimmers racing across two afternoons. Races had tight finishes and our swimmers showed off their skills. Combining all their personal bests (PBs) times – meaning they have swum faster than they ever had done for that race – they achieved 162 PBs! In addition, special mention goes to Claypusit Sommer who broke his own school record AGAIN, in the 11-to-12-year boys 50m butterfly with an impressive 28.32. Congratulations to Claypusit!

On Saturday 3rd October, our youngest squad members competed at the Bangkok Prep Puppy Cup swimming competition. A squad of 24 students in Years 2 and 3 participated, who for some, this was their first ever form of racing against another swimmer. They showed a fantastic attitude all morning and represented the school brilliantly.

Forty one PBs were achieved by our swimmers. Coming away with five medals. Individual winners were:

Terry – Bronze – 25m backstroke

Kritt – Bronze – 25m freestyle

Eden – Gold – 25m freestyle

Plus, two medals in the 4 x 25m freestyle relays

Boys’ team – Silver – Eden, Terry, Tanapat, Caden

Girls’ team – Silver – Vela, Janessa, Louisa, Mina

Congratulations to swimmers and coaches on superb results!

Saturday Splash

This is our learn to swim program and has grown quickly. Keeping the class sizes small, our coaches are getting superb results. Students are progressing quickly with our classes filling up fast. If you are interested, please do not hesitate to contact me on albe@patana.ac.th

As you read this, we have seven squad members competing at the Thailand Aquatic Association across three days of racing – 9th to 11th October. We wish them the best luck!

It has been a great start to the season; the swimmer’s attitude and commitment during the challenging weather conditions is a true testament to them. Additionally, a big thank you to the coaches who are standing poolside throughout this; their unwavering dedication was inspiring for our swimmers.
