On Thursday 8th October, our school turned pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Students and staff dressed in pink to show their support, while Cancure hosted a two-day fundraising stall on the 8th and 9th of October, bringing the school community together for a good cause.
Our stall featured a spin-the-wheel game, where students could try their luck at winning a variety of exciting prizes. Everyone who participated went home with a prize: whether it be some Robux or a Smiski blind box – which were the most popular – or a variety of squishies.
Alongside the game, we were fortunate to have pastries kindly donated by the organisers of the Pink Tennis event; we are incredibly grateful for their support. We would also like to thank everyone who visited our stall, participated in our activities, or helped spread awareness. Thanks to the enthusiasm of our school community, we were sold out on both days!
Through this event, Cancure hopes to do more than raise money. Breast cancer affects individuals and families in many different ways, and Breast Cancer Awareness Month reminds us of the importance of awareness, and supporting our community. By turning a school event into an opportunity to support a meaningful cause, we hope to encourage our Patana community to learn more about breast cancer.
We raised an incredible THB 30,000 across the two days, with all proceeds set to be donated to the Queen Sirikit Centre for Breast Cancer (ศูนย์สิริกิติ์บรมราชินีนาถ). We are also planning a visit to the centre before the end of the year to learn more about their work and how we can continue supporting breast cancer patients and their families.
This Wednesday (28th October), we also had the privilege of having Dr Sirinda Settaleela, a surgeon from Bumrungrad hospital, to give a talk on breast cancer to Year 12 and 13.
If you are interested in joining Cancure, please contact tach27@patana.ac.th or yela27@patanaac.th – new members are welcome at any time. Board sign-ups will also be opening soon, so keep an eye out for more information!
Thank you once again for helping us make this year’s Pink Day fundraiser a success.
