In January 1938, a young British traveller named Rosamund Price arrived in Bangkok on a world tour. On her very first day, she went riding at the Polo Club, fell from her horse and broke her leg.
The doctor who treated her, Dr Otto Stuetzel, ended up becoming her husband. Rosamund cut her travels short, packed up her life in England and came back to Bangkok for good.
Years later, with no British-style schooling available in the city, she had to send her two eldest children to boarding school in England. Determined not to be apart from her youngest, Linda, she decided to start a school of her own.
On 15th May 1957, the PNEU School opened in the summer bungalow of the Stuetzel family garden on Ploenchit Road. That small bungalow school would grow into Bangkok Patana School.
70 years on, it all started with a fall from a horse.
