The Primary Bookmark Art Competiton was created as part of the Bangkok Patana 70th Birthday Celebrations. The theme was, ‘Our Patana Identity: What makes our school special?’
The following students were celebrated for their winning designs in Primary assemblies before the October holiday and we are excited to see their artwork become beautiful bookmarks to be shared in the Primary Library soon:
Key Stage 1 Winners:
1st Alex Ravenscroft, 2D
2nd Lina Eum, 2S
3rd Hikari Irie, 1A
Key Stage 2 Winners:
Joint 1st: Ai Techavisitpong, 5D and Mia Hu, 6J
3rd Taejoon Ha, 6B
We were so happy to see so many of our Primary artists submit creative entries for the competition, which asked them to design a bookmark about our Patana identity, including their ideas about what makes our school special. Amongst the 185 entries, there were celebrations of our beautiful campus, the lessons students enjoy, our Patana positive attitudes of safe, curious and kind, and of course, our wonderful students themselves.
We would like to congratulate all students who took part for their creative efforts and to give a special mention to those who closely contested the winning positions, as Honourable Mentions:
| Ariel Pin-Hsin Chen 1V | Jie Ning Stella Tan 1C | Lawana Lam 1S | Gia Lee 1A |
| Chloe Phurichaya Preedanont 2K | Colin Phurich Preedanont 2B | Emma Minomo 2K | Amber Dangsubutra 2S |
| Rayhar Srichawla 2S | Kin Jumbala 2J | Yoyo Chen 4C | Rin 4C |
| Ananya Hirawat 4L | Amber Tang 4S | Parin Puapatanakajorn 4N | Ayaan Madarasmi 4L |
| Jia Kaur 5J | Soichiro Minomo 5M | Riddhi Sahu 6F | Kiyara Narula 6M |
| Aadya Dan 6M | Julie Vinck 6C | Kate Hess 6C |
The five judges had the challenging task of selecting the designs they felt best showed our Patana identity. They looked for original designs which were well-developed, using the space of the bookmark effectively with colour used impactfully. It was a very difficult decision, so a point system helped each judge to share their opinion of the designs and the overall winners were those with the highest scoring points.
Thank you to all the students who took part. Taking part in a competition takes confidence and determination, and you should all be proud of your achievements. Whether you received an award or not, your willingness to challenge yourselves and express your ideas through art is what truly matters. Thank you for making the competition such a wonderful celebration of creativity.
All entries can be viewed on display in the Primary Creative Arts area until 11th December, when they will then be returned to each entrant. We now look forward to seeing many of these beautiful creations become our Primary Patana bookmarks in the library!
