Spectrum aims to make Bangkok Patana School a space where LGBTQ+ students and their allies can feel safe, supported and proud of who they are by spreading awareness about LGBTQ+ issues and reducing stigma surrounding the community.
On February 12th, we hosted our annual Patana Pride Day, bringing students together to celebrate Bangkok Patana’s commitment to inclusivity, acceptance and community. We hosted Spectrum karaoke, where students sang their favourite songs in the Secondary Lounge, with an amazing surprise performance by Mr Howarth. The Lounge was filled with applause and cheers after each performance, and it was lovely to see a range of students from different year groups stepping up to the mic or coming to watch.
Alongside the karaoke, we organised a carnival-style, bean-bag throwing game, where students had the chance to win some rainbow treats baked by our members. We also had a non-uniform day, allowing the students to dress up in their favourite vibrant colours.
At Spectrum, we want all students, regardless of their gender and sexual orientation, to feel accepted and be proud of who they are. Overall, this lunchtime was filled with engagement, energy and a powerful sense of community.
