Smells Like School Spirit!

Secondary students took the stage by storm!

Ten student bands took to the stage at Patana Plugged performing an eclectic mix of classics and modern hits. From The Beatles’ timeless “Don’t Let Me Down” to RAYE’s emotive “Oscar Winning Tears,” the evening screamed raw talent.

The show opened with witty introductions from our MCs, instantly energising the audience. Each performance brought its own versatality, whether it was the grunge intensity of Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” or the infectious groove of Michael Jackson’s “Beat It.” Judges offered constructive feedback after every set, praising technical skill and stage presence.

Bold renditions of Green Day’s “Dilemma” and Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid” showcased confidence beyond the student years and definitely got the crowd moving. Returning bands also impressed, with the Jazz Ensemble’s creative spin on Tina Turner’s “Proud Mary” earning cheers from the crowd. Other standout moments included a soulful duet of BOA’s “Duet,” Bruno Mars’ “Runaway” delivered with charisma and The Strokes’ “Reptilia” with indie-rock cool.

We can’t wait to see what these young musicians will be up to in their next performances!
