Our orchestral students were privileged to have an early session with this year’s conductor for the annual ISB Strings Festival. Dr Kira Omelchenko, is an Associate Professor of Music and the Conductor of the Wilfrid Laurier University Symphony Orchestra (Ontario, Canada). In 2018 she received the prestigious 2018 Miller Distinguished Professor Award, which recognises excellence in teaching, advising and service. She was also the winner of the 2016 International Conductors Workshop and Competition.

Her enthusiasm, positive energy and deep knowledge inspired our strings players to do their very best at the Festival, which is coming up this weekend. The two-day sting orchestral workshop will be concluded with a Gala Concert on Saturday, with students from different international schools in Thailand and other South-East Asian countries making music together.
