Excellent IB Results Despite a Challenging Year for Grad’21

Grad’21 IB diploma results are in and show their resilience and excellence.

  • Pass Rate is 99% (world average is 88.96%)

A special mention goes to Clara Boucher, Lyela Malik and Odele Pang for an incredible perfect score of 45 points.

Clara has been at Bangkok Patana for eight years. She has been incredibly active beyond her studies. She is a star athlete in tennis, softball and volleyball, and played on other teams as well. Clara was the co-president of the Athletic Council in her final year as well as a Senior Delegate and was a noted mentor for younger students. Clara is going to Canada to complete her further studies in International Business.

Lyela Malik came to Bangkok Patana School in 2017 and quickly assimilated into the community. She has been actively involved with RISE (supporting disadvantaged migrant children), and CancerCare (Pakistan’s first free-of-cost hospital). She enjoys boxing and painting. Lyela received offers from five top rated Canadian universities with scholarships, as well as offers from top UK universities. Lyela will matriculate in medicine at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.

Odele Pang has been at Bangkok Patana for six years. She was a Senior Student Delegate and very involved with community service. After being an active volunteer with the school’s World Food Project community club in her younger years, she served as the President in Year 13. She was part of the team that organised the successful Pink Day in 2019 to promote the cause of Breast Cancer and raise funds for various projects. As if her community work didn’t keep her busy enough, she was successful at the 2019-20 Conrad Challenge for innovators, won a silver in the 2019 Thailand Economics Competition and was a senior qualifier in the Worth Mathematics Championships most recently in Jakarta. Odele is also a talented musician having completed her ARSM Diploma in piano and played viola in the school orchestra. Odele will matriculate at NUS in the College of Humanities and Sciences.

The Class of 2021 has also received an incredible range of offers from 170 universities in 16 countries. These include 119 offers from the top 50 of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2021 including Oxford, Harvard, Yale, Brown and Dartmouth. The full range of offers can be found here.

Most of the Class of 2021 (65%) have been at Bangkok Patana School for seven years or more, growing up embraced by Bangkok Patana’s values. We will miss you dearly Grad’21 but you have already demonstrated your rigour and resilience and your World of Opportunity awaits!
