Exploring Digital Tools with Seesaw and CodeLand
Mini digital experts in the making..
Year 1 students are beginning their Technology learning journey by exploring how digital tools can help them create, communicate and share their ideas. Using Seesaw, students will be developing confidence with a range of age-appropriate digital skills while learning how technology can support their learning across the curriculum.
Through guided tutorials and literal ‘hands-on activities’, students will learn how to navigate devices independently and solve simple challenges. They will experiment with digital creativity by inserting, resizing and recolouring objects, creating their own images and using digital inking tools to express their ideas in different ways.
Students will also be discovering how technology can be used to capture and share learning. By using the camera and recording tools, they can document their work, reflect on their learning and communicate their thinking with teachers and classmates. These activities help to develop both digital literacy and confidence in expressing ideas.
As they explore new apps and features, students are encouraged to be curious and responsible users of technology. The focus is not only on learning how to use digital tools, but also on understanding how these tools can support creativity and collaboration.
By building these foundations early, Year 1 students are developing the skills and confidence they need to become capable and independent digital learners.
