How IB Chemistry Prepares Students for Health Careers

Precision in Action

Developing advanced practical skills is a cornerstone of the IB Chemistry curriculum – and nowhere is this more vital than for students aiming for careers in medicine, veterinary science or dentistry, where precision and fine motor control are critical.

This term, Bangkok Patana’s Year 12 cohort undertook their second titration practical of the academic year. Repeating this technique is about refining precision and building confidence. Each iteration introduces a fresh objective, that aligns with the theoretical calculations explored in class. On this occasion, students carried out a back titration to determine the unknown mass of calcium metal.

Collaboration remains key. Lab partners will continue to rotate throughout the course, ensuring students develop adaptability and teamwork – qualities that underpin success in any scientific profession.
