IGCSE Music Days
Creativity, Collaboration and Composition
There was much excitement in our Music Department as students took part in the much-anticipated IGCSE Music Days. Over two focused and productive days, students were given able to immerse themselves fully in their compositions and develop their ideas in a supportive, workshop-style environment.
A key feature of the event was dedicated time in the Mac Lab, where students worked intensively on their coursework compositions. With access to professional music software and technology, they were able to refine melodies, develop harmonies, structure their pieces and experiment with different sounds and textures. The focused setting allowed them to think deeply about their musical intentions and make meaningful progress.
We were especially fortunate to welcome our specialist in Music Technology, Grad’19 alum Khun Chopin, who worked closely with students to enhance their pieces through production techniques. From layering and mixing to adding effects and refining sound quality, students gained valuable insight into how technology can elevate a composition from a draft idea to a polished final product. Learning how to use production creatively is an essential skill in today’s musical world, and our students embraced the opportunity enthusiastically.
By the end of the IGCSE Music Days, it was clear that students had not only made significant progress in their compositions, but had also developed greater confidence in their musical voices. It was a fantastic example of what can be achieved when creativity, expertise, and teamwork come together.
Well done to all our IGCSE Music students for their hard work and commitment!
