Celebrating Year 13’s Journey

A Week to Remember for Year 13

Year 13 students experienced a whirlwind of emotions during what may become a memorable week amongst many in their school journey.

The week began with Monday’s Parent-Teacher meetings, an opportunity for families and teachers to connect over each student’s academic progress and personal development. Teachers offered tailored feedback and outlined clear, actionable next steps to support continued growth. These meetings reinforced the vital partnership between home and school.

Earlier in the term, students received heartfelt letters from their parents, a touching surprise that left many teary-eyed. Filled with pride, encouragement and love, these letters served as a reminder of the support behind each student’s journey. As envelopes were opened, the room fell into a rare moment of stillness, broken only by sniffles and soft laughter as students absorbed words that captured their years of growth and resilience. Some of these reactions were captured on video and shared with parents a few days later. It was a full-circle moment that beautifully illustrated the depth of connection between families and their children.

Midweek, the Positive Behaviour Assembly introduced Year 13s to the school’s new behaviour policy. As the oldest students, they were reminded of their role as leaders and role models, setting the tone for the wider school community through their actions and attitudes.

The week concluded with a Parent Partnership Meeting, where Head of Year Claire Dale delivered a thoughtful session titled “The closing of one chapter and the start of the next.” Parents were guided through the emotional and developmental shifts their children may face, and how to navigate them with empathy and resilience. In a beautiful gesture of continuity, current Year 13 parents offered advice to incoming Year 7 families.
