Year 9, What are your Options?
An insightful start to IGCSE
Year 9 students and their parents came together for a lively and informative IGCSE Options Morning, designed to support students and give them confidence as they begin making some important choices about their next steps.
The morning started with an assembly outlining the structure, timeline and practical details of the Options process. This gave families a helpful overview of how choices are made, what support is available, and how subjects can link to future pathways. The aim was to demystify the process and ensure everyone left feeling informed rather than overwhelmed.
The highlight of the morning was the Options Fair, where students and parents had the chance to speak directly with subject leaders across all faculties. These conversations offered valuable insight into what each subject really involves: from course content and skills developed to assessment style and workload. Students were encouraged to ask questions, explore new possibilities and think carefully about where their interests and strengths lie.
The atmosphere throughout was warm, purposeful and positive. Staff enjoyed sharing their passion for their subjects and students engaged thoughtfully and maturely with the decisions ahead of them.
Overall, the Options Morning was a great success, helping Year 9 students feel empowered, informed, and excited as they look ahead to the start of their IGCSE journey.
