Year 3’s Mythical Journey at the National Museum
Where can our imagination take us?’
Year 3 students had a wonderful day on their National Museum visits, bringing their ‘Where can our imagination take us?‘ inquiry to life.
The visit supported the classroom exploration of Thai mythical creatures, giving children the chance to understand the history and heritage behind their learning. The National Museum Volunteers led the day brilliantly—including one of our own Bangkok Patana parents—taking students through six different activities that mixed history, storytelling and practical activities.
The children loved learning about the flag communication system that Thai soldiers used from the backs of elephants. They were gripped by stories of Ganesha and the Buddha, and spent ages hunting for tiny mythical creatures carved into ancient wooden doors. Some of the detail they spotted was incredible!
The questions came quickly throughout the day as children made links between what they’d been learning in class and the artefacts in front of them. They were respectful, engaged and genuinely interested in finding out more.
For global students, trips like this matter. Living in Bangkok gives them a real opportunity to understand Thai culture and history firsthand, and you could see how much that meant to them. They left full of enthusiasm and a determination to visit again with their families!
