Unplugged ’25
What a night to be Unplugged.
The Black Box Theatre was buzzing for Unplugged ’25, as Secondary students transformed the stage into a sonic tapestry of genres, emotions and surprises. With the lights dimmed and anticipation high, students from Year 7 to Year 13 took the mic—and our breath away.
The evening opened with a gentle instrumental shimmer as the Year 9 Guitar Ensemble performed Feather Theme from Forrest Gump, setting the tone for a night that would balance quiet introspection with bold, high-energy moments. The Year 8 String Quintet followed with a delicate rendition of French Folk Tune, showcasing musical maturity beyond their years.
Some of the crowd favourites included Daniel and Basile’s heartfelt Your Song by Elton John and the hauntingly beautiful Double Take by Ying Ying and Mingkun. Back to Black came alive with smoky vocals from Martha and Luke, while Corner of the Sky saw Eric channel Broadway charm with flair.
The stage pulsed with life during Lonely Day by System of a Down, delivered with intensity by Sara and friends, and the room soared with Coldplay’s Viva La Vida as performed by Thomas, Benjamin, Dave and Jonah. The Senior Choir closed the evening with Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For and Can You Hear?, harmonies rising like a call to community and connection.
Whether it was Wizard and I, Piano Man or Wildflower, every performance reminded us: music moves, heals and brings us together. What a night to be Unplugged!
