Students express gratitude through participation in Wai Kru…

Primary and Secondary students participated in the Wai Kru ceremony celebrating the new academic year and showing respect and gratitude to their teachers. A similar event in schools in other countries is Teacher Appreciation Day or Teacher’s Day, where countries around the world recognise and celebrate the invaluable contributions of teachers to students’ learning and well-being. In Thailand, the Wai Kru ceremony takes on a unique cultural form, with students offering beautifully arranged symbolic gifts. These offerings represent well-wishes for qualities such as sharp intellect, perseverance, discipline, growth and humility. In return, the teachers blessed them with wishes of luck and love, reinforcing the bond between teachers and students in this time-honoured tradition.

Year 7 students will participate in this occasion only once in their entire Secondary school life. They will continue to be supervised by their current tutor until they graduate in 2031. As part of the Wai Kru Ceremony, Year 7 students participated in a quiz to test their general knowledge of the event’s significance. Following the quiz, the students engaged in traditional chanting to make merit and show respect to their teachers.

In the spirit of Wai Kru, we extend heartfelt gratitude to all our amazing teachers for the incredible work they do every day.
