A Balloon Popping Machine in Year 3!
Rube Goldberg would have been proud!
Popping balloons is fun, but it is even more fun with a machine! As part of their learning on forces, motion and simple machines, Year 3 students did just that! Working as engineers and cartoonists they gained inspiration from Rube Goldberg with the end result, a class machine for their chosen purpose!
They recorded each attempt and made a video of a few of their favourite takes. As a result, the children showed they were critical in their thinking; by evaluating each step, reflecting to find alternative solutions and adapting when needed. In addition, they had a HUGE amount of perseverance as it took many attempts to get it to work!
