Active Start for Year 1 Students

Year 1 students have the opportunity to start their school day off with an ‘active start’ twice a week. We all know that learning never stops and so, during this time, the adults learn alongside the students – following their many and varied interests developing both their natural curiosity and their language and communication skills.

Popular activities include making their own story books, using the Chromebooks to research their interests, using junk or construction kits to explore moving parts and the using the role play area which can change from being a toy shop to a home to a garage. We have even had a pet shop that sold dinosaurs! Year 1 students’ imaginations are endless, we learn so much from them!
