Our Year 13 students had a blast from the past as they opened letters they wrote to themselves when in Year 8. Yerin Kang, 13R described the moment:
“On the penultimate Friday, the air was thick with nostalgia as we were handed letters we had penned to our future selves in the innocent, immature days of Year 8. Amidst a chorus of laughter and chatter, we scattered to find quiet corners, eager to reconnect with the sentiments of our past selves. As I unfolded my letter, one particular phrase leaped out at me: “You’ve done so well so far! Always be confident.” It was as if a younger version of myself reached through time to offer encouragement that I’ve surely needed in this stage of preparing for my final IB exams. In that moment, I couldn’t help but reflect on the mixture of anticipation and uncertainty with which we had composed those letters, clearly unaware of the trials and triumphs that awaited us. Now, as we stand on the threshold of graduation, preparing to bid farewell to the nurturing confines of our Bangkok Patana home, I am filled with a sense of quiet assurance. For just as we have grown and flourished over the past five years, so too will we continue to evolve and thrive in the adventures that lie ahead in our future lives.”
