Film-maker Thrills with Tales of Everest
Visiting Author Matt Dickinson talked with Secondary Students about his adventures as a film maker.
Vivid tales of climbing Mount Everest in frightening conditions and crossing Antarctica had Secondary students enthralled as visiting author and adventurer film-maker Matt Dickinson spoke about his experiences. Matt talked to students about his trek with professional climber Alan Hinkes to battle through hurricane-force winds to reach the summit during one of the worst storms to ever hit Mount Everest. His harrowing account can be found in his book The Death Zone: Climbing Everest through the Killer Storm. Matt spoke to students and teachers about what it was like to try and film during such perilous conditions and even brought with him a treat – some of the biscuits they carried up to the summit to keep them energised!
