James Goddard: Olympic Swimmer
Former British Olympic swimmer and Commonwealth champion James Goddard was in school inspiring our students in and out of the pool.
Retired three-time Olympic swimmer James Goddard worked with TigerShark swimmers and Year 12 PE students about the characteristics needed to reach an elite level of competition.
He had students hanging onto his every word as he talked about the importance of training effectively particularly using concentration and a growth mindset. He also touched upon the positive impact that support and camaraderie from teammates can have on individual performance. In the pool, the session focused on improving turns and starts with both Primary and Secondary students, who left feeling very inspired.
All the students had many questions for James and especially enjoyed having a chance to try on his Commonwealth Games medals and listening to his stories from the Olympic village. Thanks James for making such a splash with our students!
