The importance of home language in the development of academic language was explored at an Early Years Parent Workshop.
On Tuesday morning Mr Ladva, Foundation Stage Leader of Learning and Curriculum, and Miss Hooper, Lead Teacher for Language, hosted a workshop explaining the importance of language development in the early years. They shared lots of practical examples of how an individual’s home language is used to develop academic language at school and how academic language can also be developed at home. This was followed by a fantastic open morning in Foundation Stage where children and parents interacted with lots of language-rich learning opportunities.
