Enchanting Rainforests in Year 5

Enchanting Rainforests in Year 5

How can we develop and communicate an appreciation of rainforests?

Year 5 students have immersed themselves in a vibrant learning experience by transforming the entire Year group into a simulated rainforest, complete with lush foliage, winding vines and a diverse array of wildlife representative of rainforests globally. They have delved into the intricate layers of these ecosystems to create their own.

This immersive approach lays the foundation for the upcoming weeks during which they will learn about the features of rainforests and how this determines where they are located. The driving question guiding their learning journey is, “How can we develop and communicate an appreciation of rainforests?” This central query will serve as a compass, directing the students’ exploration and understanding throughout this unit. We can truly say that learning in Year 5 is ‘lush’!
