Roald Dahl Day in Year 3

Roald Dahl Day in Year 3

Year 3 got into the spirit of Roald Dahl day, dressing up and creating their own sweets.

The 13th September marks the birthday of one of the most famous children’s authors of all time, Roald Dahl. Year 3 celebrated any of his wonderful books and colourful characters as part of their learning on the wonderful world of Roald Dahl. It gives the students (and teachers!) a chance to become more familiar with many of his stories and to unleash their inner creative spirit.

The day started with a whole year group assembly and a chance to see many of the different costumes, including all the teachers of course! Throughout the day, each class did a range of different activities, including the creation of dream jars inspired by ‘The BFG’ and an attempt to make their own marvellous medicine. They also explored friendship through the eyes of ‘James and The Giant Peach’ and ‘Fantastic Mr Fox’. Some students had a go at creating their own Roald Dahl-inspired character (would they be kind like Matilda, or wicked like Mr and Mrs Twit?) Also, they designed their own chocolate bar that would be worthy of a place in Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory.

Overall, it was fantastic to see so many students getting involved and thank you to the parents for helping to create their fabulous costumes.
