The Meaning of Life in Year 8 Science

Year 8 collaborate on the meaning of life

Year 8 Science students are discussing the meaning of life. Not philosophy, but the definition of life – what are the characteristics of living organisms. Students started with independent reading and watching videos. This was followed by recording their learning on video and sharing with their teacher. Next, students in small groups or pairs discussed several objects and organisms and whether they are living or not, based on what they learned in the reading. Students are enjoying working collaboratively in Microsoft Teams. Teachers get a chance to tap into their conversations and hear how they are internalising the knowledge of the lesson.
