Congratulations Grad ’26!
Grad ’26 – School is out!
On a day filled with pride, memory and anticipation, the Class of 2026 gathered for their graduation ceremony. The excitement was palpable as 143 students processed into the Rosamund Stuetzel Theatre to celebrate their achievements. This year, the celebration was especially poignant as alum from our first graduationg class (1997) were also present – but this time as parents for their own graduating children. A full circle moment for our Alumni.
Secondary Principal Matt Seddon reminded graduates that learning is not only academic, but deeply human. In a moment both gentle and powerful, he shared that the class had been gifted a book, The Poetry Pharmacy by William Sieghart, which he described as “tried and tested prescriptions for the heart, mind, and soul.” Each poem, as he noted, was “…as different as each one of you, and written for you.”
Senior Delegates took to the stage and added their own flair to the event. Matthew spoke of the strength found in belonging, reflecting on the friendships and shared experiences that made the school feel like home. Lucy, captured the long arc of growing up at Bangkok Patana, “Watching us go from Tiny Tigers into graduates, and soon‑to‑be alumni.” She honoured families whose quiet constancy carried students forward, saying, “Our families carried us, knowing one day they would watch us leave. Only now do we know how quietly and completely we were loved each day.” The reflection by Lara resonated with everyone present. “The most meaningful part of growing up was never having to do it alone,” she said, offering simple but courageous hope for what lies ahead, “I hope we go into life willing to step into it!” Chongrong reminded the cohort that challenges are inevitable, sharing a powerful image of resilience. “Much will be tested. Be grateful and make something out of it,” he said using a dropped‑egg analogy that encouraged growth through setbacks.
Head of Year Claire Dale celebrated the character of the Year group, noting that they “shone with kindness, determination, spirit and humour.” Turning to parents, Claire expressed gratitude for their unwavering support and the role they played in building a safe, inclusive community. “Thank you for your loyal support, and congratulations on the wonderful job you’ve done in raising your children,” she said to parents. Above all, she shared a hope that students always felt they belonged, “That is was safe to share your worries, and safe to make the happiest memories you will carry with you.” She encouraged Grad’26 to “look back here, and let this place remind you of what got you through.”
Head of School Chris Sammons closed with a call to confidence and perspective, reminding students that “You have learned different ways of thinking, and different ways of thinking can change the world.” “Do not be overly humble about your talents. Raise the potential you have worked so hard on, and use it for the benefit of humankind,” he urged them. At the same time, he acknowledged the enduring foundations of the school, recognising “The vision of Founder Rosamund Stuetzel, and her gift to international families, which still sits here today.”
As the ceremony came to a close, he sent them off with the words they’ve long awaited:
“Graduates of 2026, I now say for the final time… School is out!”
