First Assembly of the Year!

The excitement began building even as students filed into the Sports Hall for the first Whole School assembly of the year and continued on with the ‘not-so-usual-school-performances’. Students and staff gasped in awe as the Cheerleading Squad including parents, staff and even a grandmother of our student danced to the very popular song Golden and even pulled off some astonishing flips and tumbles!

The next surprise came as The Phantom, our alum Harry Mills, broke into a song from The Phantom of the Opera. Harry is an understudy for the roles of Raul and The Phantom, and many of our parents and students had seen him perform on stage in Bangkok earlier this month, as part of the touring London troupe. However, it was a treat to see him back on our very own stage and be treated to his amazing voice singing Music of the Night. Harry left our students with huge words of wisdom from his experience as a theatre star. “With every failure there came another opportunity. So if it doesn’t work out the first time, try again. It took me three years to land the role of the Phantom,” said Harry.

Closing the assembly, Head of School Chris Sammons, re-iterated what Harry said and encouraged students to “Step into your spotlight” while here at Bangkok Patana, “Embrace every opportunity and see how you can grow.”

And just when we thought it was over, a cheeky reminder about the upcoming Fun Run had the whole community in stitches, especially with some bold promises from staff (who shall remain unnamed). We’ll see how those hold up on September 28th!
