Under the Sea – Year 7 Explores the Ocean

I wish I could be… Under the sea- Year 7 study human impact on the environment.

Using all their senses, Year 7 students used an Eight Way thinking approach to explore the “learning through wonder” space that mimics under the sea environments. This wonder space is filled will physical objects and images that students can look at and touch to get them thinking and ‘peek their curiosity’. With a sense of wonder about oceans, students investigated the issue of human impact on the natural environment with a wider degree of curiosity – because there is more than one way of looking at the world! The students then self-organised into small groups as part of the Oceans and Sustainability unit in Geography to form questions and solutions to the geographical question, “Why do we need to investigate oceans?”
