Awarding Changemakers in Year 6

Awarding Changemakers in Year 6

And the award goes to…

Year 6 has been working diligently toward answering their learning unit’s driving question of ‘How can we make small changes to make a big difference to our planet?’. Their efforts have since culminated in an awards ceremony to celebrate those who have made drastic contributions to our planet, but who may not always get the recognition that they deserve. Our Year 6 students took this opportunity to give them that recognition!

For the Year 6 Oscars Ceremony, students dressed in their smartest attire and walked the red carpet before being seated for the awards. This event was a celebration of humanity and a celebration of writing. Lesser known changemakers, such as Isatou Ceesay and Julia ‘Butterfly’ Hill, were featured alongside more famous faces, such as Dian Fossey and Greta Thunberg. These changemakers have demonstrated ways in which they have used their personal values to make a positive impact on our planet. The true award winner is surely our planet, as we have eight Year 6 classes of well-informed, passionate and capable changemakers! Through this unit of learning, we have proven that we can all make a small change in order to make a big difference to our planet.
