Creating Clocks in Year 7 D+T

Creating Clocks in Year 7 D+T

Year 7 are finalising their Memphis Clock designs.

Some Year 7 students are in the D+T workshop creating Memphis clocks. The project involves designing and making a clock in the style of the Memphis Design group, a design style from Italy in the 1980’s. The Memphis Clock style is well-known for the bright colors, shapes and materials used in the clocks.

Our students worked on their designs at home during CSL and are now turning their ideas into reality in the school workshop. They are learning how to manufacture products using subtractive processes, mainly cutting, drilling and abrading. Additionally, they learn the value of different fixing methods such as using screws and nuts and bolts when they decorate their clocks.
