Head of School’s Update 11th June 2020

Dear Parents, As you have already seen in the media, we are anticipating an update from the Government on Friday […]

Dear Parents,

As you have already seen in the media, we are anticipating an update from the Government on Friday afternoon this week, to whether we can reopen on Monday 15th June. It is our intention to reopen school for two weeks, if we do get approval tomorrow. If we do, you will be sent an SMS confirming the reopening of school.

As in our previous plans, once you receive the SMS, the Primary and Secondary principals will also send you specific details for your child’s attendance plans for next week, as the school will not reopen with full attendance in line with the Ministry of Public Health and Office of the Private Education Commission (OPEC) Health and Safety requirements. If your child(ren) is/are registered for school transport, you will also receive an email from the Transport Department. A reminder as part of the requirements, parents will not be allowed past the turnstiles into campus for the remainder of the academic year.

We are delighted with the level of responses to our regular CSL surveys where 88% of our parents confirmed to us their confidence in all of the safety measures we have put in place enabling a safe return to school, possibly next week. Further details of the final survey for this academic year will be published in Patana News tomorrow. A reminder that next Friday will be the final Patana News of this academic year, where I will be acknowledging academic leavers.

We are also delighted with the level of responses to two very important school documents that are a key requirement for your child(ren) to return to school. Thanks to the more than 5,200 of you who have completed the Health and Travel forms and more than 1,700 of our students who have completed the Student Code of Conduct. If you have not already done so and would like your child(ren) to attend school if we reopen, or if your circumstances have changed regarding health and travel, please complete the forms as soon as possible.

A reminder that your child(ren) are not able to return to school unless these forms are completed.

Note that Term 3 will conclude on Friday 26th June for the summer holidays. We plan to reopen on Wednesday 19th August as per our 2020/21 calendar. We will communicate with you in mid to late July on which model for reopening the school is able to follow based on government guidelines.
