Opening of IB Visual Arts Exhibition

Opening of IB Visual Arts Exhibition

Make sure to visit the IB Visual Arts Exhibition, on display until the end of April 2022!

The Visual Arts Department and the Class of 2022 proudly present this year’s International Baccalaureate Visual Arts Exhibition. The opening took place on Wednesday, 23rd March, and the artwork will stay on display in the Exhibition Hall until the end of April. The show celebrates the work of our Year 13 IB Artists and has been both created and curated by the students, with the dedicated support of their teachers. They have produced an engaging, personal and dynamic collection of work, incorporating a diverse range of themes, concepts, techniques and visual media for visitors to enjoy.

For a behind the scenes look at the creative process, please watch the video below featuring our Year 13 IB Artists and some of the artwork currently on display:

The IB Visual Arts places great emphasis on communication, engaging with local art practice and interacting with art in a broader sense, all activities which have been limited or difficult to pursue over the past two years of the course. Throughout this learning journey, students have explored new media, created studio environments in their homes or found new ways to safely interact with the wider art community.

This student group has done an amazing job at overcoming the challenges that lockdowns, travel restrictions and unusual working conditions have thrown at them and have responded with resilience and ingenuity. This video shows the remarkable maturity with which the two classes were able to adapt to their changing environment and engage with the bigger picture.

We are very proud of the resilience and the enthusiasm of the 2022 IB Visual Arts cohort! Make sure to visit the exhibition to share your appreciation for their efforts.
