What number is this?

When multiplied by 8, it’s a multiple of 3. When divided by 9, it’s as prime as can be.

When doubled contains a 3 or a 1. When halved it’s a square, but a 4 it has none.

A) 9 B) 13 C) 17 D) 18 E) 27

This is just one question a number of Year 5 and 6 Bangkok Patana students were asked when they participated in the Primary Mathematics Challenge (PMC). The PMC is a fun and exciting competition, designed to encourage enthusiastic mathematicians to tackle challenging problem solving and reasoning questions.

Congratulations to all those who took part in the PMC. We were awarded 19 BRONZE certificates, 20 SILVER and 7 GOLD certificates.

In February, students who scored 20 and above in the initial round of the PMC were then invited to take part in the BONUS round. We were awarded 9 BRONZE, 5 SILVER and 1 GOLD certificate.

Congratulations to all students on their achievements, and to Kevin Keiser in 6P for his GOLD certificate in the Bonus Round!
