Primary Students Get Their Rhythm On

Students got into the rhythm learning how to play drums from many different cultures.

Students in Key Stage 1 and 2 had the chance to travel around the world with music as they learned the rhythms and songs of countries from different continents. The Primary School was alive with the sounds of drums as students in Years 1 – 6 joined visiting drummer Andy Gleadhill for workshops and assemblies. Students learned about the different types of drums and different cultures that use drums for music. They enjoyed learning and playing Bhangra music from the Punjab area of India, the Conga from Cuba, Samba music from Brazil, Royal Burundi drums and Fanga rhythm where they also sang a welcoming song from Ghana.
