School Update 9th June 2021

The latest school update from Mr Mills

Dear Parents,

It is hard to believe we are now in our seventh week of Continuing Student Learning (CSL), and it is clear to all that the likelihood of Bangkok coming out of the Dark Red zone before the end of the school year is remote.

At the final Foundation Board Steering Committee meeting of this academic year, we discussed the latest COVID-19 positive cases and the ramifications of Bangkok still being firmly in the Dark Red zone with 1,098 cases recorded yesterday alone.

We have therefore made the decision to close the school campus and continue CSL for the remainder of Term 3, ending 25th June. We do remain hopeful that we will be able to open for Term 1 on 18th August. T

o those families who are leaving us this term, we regret not being able to say farewell in person. We wish you well and hope that you will visit Bangkok Patana in the future as alumni and we look forward to welcoming you then. Please do register for the Bangkok Patana Alumni Group to stay in touch with the school and meet Patana alumni around the world.

Canteen and Transport Refunds

We will refund you as applicable for Transport and Lunch services. This means that Secondary students on the set lunch programme and all Primary students will receive a lunch refund. All registered Transport users will receive a refund as well. If you are a returning student, this will be applied as a credit. For leaving students, we will contact you to arrange a cash refund.

Facilities Concession

As a result of the enforced school closures during Terms 2 and 3, the school benefitted from some direct cost savings. These savings will be passed on to parents.

Pro rata the following credit (returning students) or cash (leaving students) will be applied:

  • FS1 through to Year 10 and Year 12 – THB 18,000 per student
  • Year 11 – THB 4,000 per student (these students were not scheduled to have classes in Term 3)
  • Year 13 – THB 14,000 per student (this includes savings from not having a traditional graduation ceremony)

For children in Nursery, the savings credit depends on the number of days per week the child is normally at school.

Returning Textbooks and School Resources

Detailed communication on this will be sent to you separately.

Yearbooks and School Photos

The 2021 school Yearbooks will be distributed in August; leaving families will be able to pick them up from Reception from 24th June onwards.

If you ordered school photos through USmile, you will be able to pick up your photos at Reception from tomorrow until 16th July, between 8.00am and 2.00pm. Please be prepared to supply the full name and class/tutor group of each child in the family. Any orders not collected will be distributed in August.

If your family has already left Bangkok and has not received your USmile photo order or if you would like a Yearbook, please email publish@patana.ac.th

Graduating Class of 2021

Congratulations to the 122 students who make up the Class of 2021! We are sad not to be able to have our traditional graduation ceremonies, but we would like to welcome our entire community to the premiere of our graduation video online on Saturday 26th June starting at 2.00pm. The link to the online video will be posted on the main page of our school website and on our Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn pages. We are also making plans to accommodate graduation photos and Year 13 parents will get more information on this very soon.

Registration for Vaccines for Bangkok Patana Families

We have been working on facilitating vaccinations for families within our school community and will send you more information on this when we can confirm more details.

If you have any questions on any of the preceding information, please contact the Primary (primary@patana.ac.th) or Secondary (secondary@patana.ac.th) offices first.

Thank you again to all our hardworking students as they continue their CSL over the next two weeks. Wishing all our Patana families a safe and enjoyable summer and we look forward to welcoming our students back to campus on Wednesday 18th August.

Best wishes,

Senior Leadership Team
