We were thrilled to host the well-known science education guru Sir John Holman for a tour of our science learning environments…
Sir John Holman is a superstar in the world of science education and chemistry. He is currently the President of the Association of Science Education in the UK. We were proud to show Sir John around our campus particularly highlighting the science learning across the school.
In Primary School, Sir John came across Year 1 and Foundation Stage students who were exploring atomic theory with experts Ian Stuart of AtomicSchool and Ruben Meerman, the Surfing Scientist. It didn’t take much before Sir John was down at child level engaging with the children. In Secondary School, Sir John appeared amazed by the Science Centre and the learning that was taking place. He took the opportunity to discover the level of understanding students had with the experiments they were undertaking.
Before he left, Sir John heard from a group of Primary and Secondary students who spoke about why they love learning Science at Bangkok Patana. It was a fitting end to a day of super Science for Sir John!
As a footnote, it was wonderful to find out that there is a Patana connection! Sir John’s wife’s nephew was a Primary teacher at Bangkok Patana from 2000 to 2002.
