Senior Leadership Update 12th May 2022

Updates on CIS accreditation, vaccine booster shots, invoices….

Dear Parents,

We are happy to write to you today with news that we have passed our CIS accreditation with flying colours! We were evaluated against 72 standards, we exceeded expectations on 17 of them and met with expectations on all the rest.  The report makes very positive observations. The CIS evaluation team concluded their report by saying:

“It was clear in all our interactions with the community at Bangkok Patana School that the guiding statements are a living entity at the school. All the groups spoke to this and demonstrated how it shaped decision making and day to day interactions; whether this was a decision from the board around long-term investment, all the way down to individual support for a student. There is little doubt that Bangkok Patana School is delivering on its own promise.”

Here are samples of the commendations in the report:

“The Bangkok Patana School community for their care for each other resulting in a positive learning environment and workplace.”

“The student body for the open and caring way in which they support each other and embrace the ethos of the school which creates a trusting environment and aids in overall community well-being.”

“The parent community and in particular the PTG executive committee for being strong advocates of the school and its’ guiding statements.”

A big thank you to the parents and students who met with the visiting team and gave their time in helping achieve this accreditation. Ms Helen Thew, Cross Campus Principal, will discuss more details of the report in an upcoming edition of Patana News. The full report is being printed and will soon be available for you to peruse in our Libraries.

We’re delighted to confirm that parents are now able to visit our Libraries to choose books and resources in person.

Vaccinations – MedPark Hospital is offering booster shots for students aged 12 to 17 years old. The time period between the second and third dose is a minimum of four months. Please pre-register using this link by noon on Monday 16th May. The booster doses will be offered by the end of May.

The Parent Teacher Group (PTG) Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on 17th May 2022 at 8.00am in Senior Studies, 2nd Floor. If you wish to attend, please RSVP here by Monday 16th May at noon. You will need to have done an ATK test within 12 hours before coming onto campus. You can view the minutes from the last AGM, the Agenda for this AGM, the proposal to change the constitution and available positions here. Please email ptg@patana.ac.th if you would like to nominate for any of the open positions, or for any further information regarding the AGM.

Our Year 11 and Year 13 exams are running extremely well after a two-year hiatus. The accommodations we put in place using a local hospital have gone smoothly and we are really pleased to be able to support students who otherwise would not be able to complete their exams.

School fee invoices were sent out via email yesterday, along with the Fees Announcement for 2022/23. If you did not receive the email or need any clarification, please contact accounts@patana.ac.th.

Just a reminder that Thai schools reopen next week and we can expect the traffic to be much heavier than usual. We’re looking forward to some exciting events over the next two weeks: our first school drama production in two years; the Senior Sports Awards will be broadcast live on 20th May and the Class of 2022 will be celebrated with their graduation ceremony on 28th May.

Wishing you a restful weekend.

Best wishes,

The Senior Leadership Team
