Studying Monet in Year 2

Year 2 students prepare Monet art installation…

This term, Year 2 will be exploring the works of Claude Monet in their Art lessons. The study started this week in the classroom, looking at some of the artist’s famous paintings including his use of light, colour and texture to create his masterpieces.

Inspired by Monet’s observations in nature, the students went outside to sketch parts of the Bangkok Patana landscape in the Year 2 playground. Paying attention to detail, the children chose trees, plants and climbing frames to draw and study.

Over the coming weeks, Year 2 will continue to learn about the works of Claude Monet as they create a special art project to be installed on the roof of the Year 1 and 2 building. This is part of a larger unit of learning in which the Year 2 students will design and create a relaxing garden on the roof.
