Sustainability at the Snack Bar

Hungry? Stop by the Secondary Snack Bar for a nutritious and sustainable snack!

The Secondary Snack Bar is a highly appreciated provision at Bangkok Patana School – not only for students, but also staff. With a variety of nutritional options to suit diverse tastes and cravings, the Snack Bar is always buzzing with activity during break times. To keep things interesting, our Services Department is constantly on the lookout for potential new menu offerings. This academic year alone, five new options have been added to the Snack Bar, including dried fruit chips, cheese sticks, spaghetti, burgers and pizza. In addition to break time ‘snacks’, these offerings provide alternative options for lunch, fitting with our students’ needs, particularly those who are on-the-go, heading to a community club meeting or other engagement.

The Snack Bar benefits from its partnership with the SEC (Student Environmental Committee), focusing on reducing single-use plastics. Some such initiatives, led by the SEC, have included: the removal of plastic water bottles and installation of water fountains, removal of plastic straws and the increased use of paper wrapping. These steps have been significant in developing the Secondary Snack Bar to be a much more sustainable enterprise.

The next time you grab something from the Snack Bar, be sure to thank the kind staff who work hard to ensure the food services on campus are quick, delicious, diverse, and sustainable!
