A Spectacular TAPs Exhibition Launch: Celebrating The Arts and Creativity at Bangkok Patana
From Canvas to Stage
The Teachers as Arts Practitioners (TAPs) Programme at Bangkok Patana encourages staff to explore and showcase their artistic talents, fostering creativity and connection across the school community. This initiative encouraged staff to integrate their artistic passions—whether painting, photography, music, writing or performance—into their professional lives. TAPs is about building a culture of creativity, well-being and professional growth.
The inaugural TAPs Exhibition, Patana Canvases, featured a curated collection of diverse artworks, offering a unique glimpse into the creative journeys of our staff. The launch party on 31st January was a celebration of creative synergy, bringing together staff, students and families to experience the vibrancy of the Patana artistic spirit.
The evening opened with remarks from TAPs Project Lead, Exhibition Curator and Researcher, Purnima Ghogar. The Theatre then came alive with an exciting lineup of live performances. Mark Lanzuela (Digital Media & Alumni Specialist) and Krit Kosoltrakul (Secondary Music Subject Specialist) enchanted the audience with a beautiful musical duet, while the soulful vocals of Alissa Sariwongchan (Teaching Assistant, Nursery), followed by a fun song from Charinthon (Meaw) Yensuang (Receptionist) and Khun Amm (Senior Nurse), captivated everyone. Rick Kirtland (Assistant Principal Inclusion & Welfare, Primary) delighted us with a reading from his newly published children’s book, while Sharon Godfrey, Katie Meadows (Secondary Drama Teacher) supported by their students brought thought-provoking monologues and performance art to the stage. The energy soared with a vibrant Latin dance by Suveenat (Nanzie) Noinual (Assistant Head Dance Coach) and the showcase culminated with powerful messages on creativity and activism through spoken word poetry by Purnima Ghogar (Secondary English Teacher) followed by her Spoken Word Poetry Showcase ECA students, Aarushi from Year 8 and Nia from Year 9.
Our Head of School, Chris Sammons awarded programme participants with the exhibition catalogue publication and certificates of recognition, celebrating their outstanding achievements.
The evening ended in the Exhibition Hall, where guests engaged with the artists and explored their works, with some going ‘WOW’ at the Art displayed.
If you missed the launch, you can still view the artworks by 31 staff members on display in the Exhibition Hall until Friday, 7th February.
