The Four Ps of Marketing is a hot topic for budding entrepreneurs in Year 10 Business Studies. The Four Ps, or the Marketing Mix, are Price, Product, Promotion and Place. Students began by investigating ‘Place’. First, they watched a screencast and made notes on the four channels of distribution so they could understand the path a product takes from the producer to the customer. This led them to appreciate the roles of the retailer, wholesaler and agent as well as the benefits and limitations of each. The students will be given some examples of specific products and asked to recommend and justify an appropriate channel of distribution for each product. They will have an extra challenge if they incorporate COVID-19 restrictions too!
