Understanding Migration through Art in Year 6
Year 6 create Banksy inspired art to talk about modern migration.
Year 6 students in school this week have turned their focus from historical migration to understanding modern migration patterns. Learning why and how people migrate is key to being inclusive. As a result, students are expressing their opinions and understanding of migration issues through art. They are creating stencils and will then spray paint their designs on paper – not the walls of Year 5/6! Their designs express their concerns, feelings and beliefs on migration in today’s modern, diverse and multicultural world. They are using Banksy’s style as a model for their artwork and learning more about using art to talk about social issues.
