World Peace Day

World Peace Day

As global citizens, our students are shaping a more peaceful world…

World Peace Day was celebrated today across campus in both Primary and Secondary schools, with non-uniform day donations going toward the various school community charity clubs. Dressed in purple and blue, students participated in activities that emphasised world peace. Primary students handcrafted paper cranes, which will be sent to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum to be integrated into the Children’s Peace Monument at Peace Memorial Park. In Secondary school, the well-being Hub hosted a movie day, karaoke was on in the Lounge and students were asked to share what peace means to them on chalkboards in the shared areas.

Global awareness days like today provide us with an opportunity to connect, demonstrate that small actions can have a big impact and to remind us to act with empathy, as we are all part of something bigger than ourselves. The theme for 2022, in particular, is to “end racism and build peace”, an aim that is always relevant in an international context. Appreciating our diversity, emphasising inclusion and maintaining a commitment to integrity and equity are all within our school value of Global Citizenship, and were indeed fantastic guiding statements on a day celebrating peace!
