World Scholar’s Cup Begins!

World Scholar’s Cup Begins!

Medals, trophies and alpacas – oh my!

World Scholar’s Cup has returned once again to Bangkok Patana School with 35 students debating, writing and quizzing their way towards medals, trophies and alpacas. Here in Bangkok for the Global Round, hundreds of scholars from all across the world have arrived to compete, learn and have a whole lot of fun in the process.

This weekend, our 17 junior scholars and 18 senior scholars competed in teams of three in debates with such motions as “History lessons should only teach content that is 100% true” and “Cities affected by climate change should be reconstructed in new locations” before testing their study skills in a gruelling 120 question multiple choice quiz. All content is linked to the World Scholar’s Curriculum, which, this year, is themed “Reconstructing the Past”. As the Global Round comes to a close, students will officially adopt their new Global Round Alpacas and take the pledge to become loving parents of their new fluffy offspring. To get involved in this year’s rounds, please sign up for the ECA in Block B or contact Mr Nason.
