Year 1 are identifying and ordering numbers.
In Year 1 Maths, children have been identifying numbers and ordering them correctly. They start by taking a handful of counters and putting them on the board. The counters could be anything from chips to beans! Then, they count how many pieces there are and write the number on the board. Students use mnemonic devices such as rhyming to remember their numbers. Next, they showed they could order numbers correctly by counting the number of dots on the Numicon and writing the answer to share with their teacher.
